With the end of 2020-21 session, this timeline portrays the detailed information about the various activities, events and workings of the club in this session and provides insights into its overall development. The various activities of the club were as follows:
15th June, 2021
The last but not the least event of the club for the session 2020-21 was Ideathon -2k21 which was basically conducted by the assistant team members of the club. This was an open to all and free of cost competition on a large level consisting of various prize monies and certificates for different positions. This intensive brainstorming event helped the participants to develop and improve their innovations and gave them an opportunity to identify and ideate the most viable solutions to the given problems. People from various institutions from all over the country got themselves registered for this ideathon.
30th May, 2021
A webinar on how to present ideas at a hackathon/ideathon was conducted by the club on 30th of May, 2021 so as to give a basic idea of the approach to competitions like a hackathon or ideathon. The ‘Smart India Hackathon 2020’ finalist team of AEC shared their experience with the participants which was followed by a doubt clearing session. It was basically an interactive session where the finalist team answered all the queries of the students related to the same.
20th December, 2020
Once the registration of new members for the session 2020-21 was over, the club organised Study Jam exclusively for the freshers on 20th of December,2020. A lot of coding enthusiasts enrolled themselves for the session and the freshers showed an excellent zeal, further marking it yet another successful session in the series.
1st November, 2020
The club successfully conducted the fresher’s induction programme for the session 2020-21 on 1st of November,2020. The induction programme included various sessions on Android Development, Competitive Programming and DSA followed by Web Development and at last a brief introduction to Machine Learning. It was a very interactive yet informative session which witnessed the presence of 80+ freshers, indicating the interest and dedication they have for programming and related stuffs. Followed by the induction programme, the membership form of the club was rolled out and a good number of registrations of new members were recorded for the session.
18th October, 2020
After getting a positive response from the participants, the club decided to extend its reach and conduced its very first inter-college Study Jam on 18th of October,2020. As this time, it was open to all, the session witnessed the participation of many non- AECians from various institutes which ensured the success of this initiative and helped us fulfil our motive of enhancing the coding culture.
10th & 11th October, 2020
AEC Coding Club has successfully organised ‘HACKTOBERFEST AEC EDITION’ 2020 under the banner Hacktoberfest'20. It was a two- day long event on 10th and 11th of October,2020 where the participants got the privilege to be a part of amazing workshops and tech talks and grabbed a detailed knowledge of ways of contributing to open source. The workshops were guided by experienced volunteers and trainers from different institutions. They discussed about some of their works and projects in this area and talked about how we can do the same in open-source contributions. We received an immensely active participation of the registered members from different institutions all over India. The profound response of the event made it a success. All the participants were awarded with a participation certificate by the club and a virtual swag kit by Digital Ocean.
27th September, 2020
The second week of Study Jam was conducted on 27th of September,2020 which was also for the students of AEC only and it became more and more interesting in the successive weeks.
20th September, 2020
The very first session of Study Jam was conducted on 20th of September,2020 which was open to all the students of AEC. We received a good response from the participants of various semesters and branches of the college, making it a good start for the initiative.
12th & 13th September, 2020
The AEC Coding Club in collaboration with 360DigiTMG- Guwahati conducted a two-day webinar on ‘Graphical User Interface and Data Science & AI’ on 12th and 13th of September,2020. 360DigiTMG is the training division of INNODATICS INC, USA which was ranked among the top 20 Most Promising Data Analytics solution providers of 2018. It was established in 2013 with a view to offer industry-oriented training. Their experienced hand-packed faculty have trained more than 20,000 professionals across the globe. The session was led by some of the industry experts and trainers from 360DigiTMG. It was truly an amazing opportunity to connect on a webinar platform and hear from these industry experts. The webinar was free of cost and hence it was attended by more than 60 participants.
30th August, 2020
The club conducted its very first event for the session 2020-21 on 30th of August,2020 which was a webinar on ‘GitHub as a general tool in collaboration’. Experienced alumni of Assam Engineering College, Mr. Rajat Kanti Bhattacharjee was the instructor of the webinar who gave a detailed knowledge of basics of Git and GitHub to the participants. The event was open to all the students of AEC and it witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 70+ participants, which ensured the successful completion of the event.
